Poor thing. I feel sad about bicycles abandoned like that. Is she in a canal?

it is a sad sight. But this form of bicycle decay is almost art, don’t you think? Where from…it looks like the picture was taken on one of Amsterdam’s clean-up boats, aka lifted from the bottom (the canals aren’t that shallow :-) ). If that estimate is wrong, I can tell you the picture’s tags say it was near the waterfront of Oosterdok, close to Central Station.

a little sad that his bike got thrown into the water, Nick, I’m sure. Or still wondering where it went. But I’m certain he quickly moved on to a new ride, like most.

Oh, I know the canals are deeper than that, despite all the bicycles and other things thrown in them. But I’ve often spied bicycles at canals’ edges, looking like that poor soul.

Yes, it’s an Oma fiets, and I should have said ‘he/she’, as men ride it just as much as women.
