Wim Harwig from Vlissingen sent 4 videos to Amsterdamize, this being one of them. He rides home on his recumbent bicycle from working the night shift, enjoying an extraordinary sunrise and a generally serene commute home. Well shot from all angles possible, including eying himself. I love it.

Just an Amsterdam native who won't take his city and its cycling extravaganza for granted anymore, thinking these posts might be clues to others, inspiration perhaps, if you will...

Awesome and superb use of copyright infringement. :)
Things that come to mind… biking as a narrative works… rules. As in the real world so to in film.
Check out all those windmills!
Extremely interesting modern architecture and city planning.
I wish two things…
1) this was in nice HD quality… like VimeoHD, i love their quality
2) I can’t wait for IS (image stabilization) to work it’s way into ever cheaper and cheaper cameras.
Luckily… this is the future and it’s already happening. Online video quality is improving by leaps and bounds and IS and steadycam tech is not only improving but working its way into more and more cameras at cheaper prices.
Rendezvous was possible because of a the breakthrough of gyro cams.
Riding the wave of technological evolution so rules.
Speaking of which…
glad to here about the video comments… pretty awesome, video comments are getting there. Can’t wait to hear how they work out, I haven’t had as much time to follow.
BTW, just got back from my second overnight bike trip. Goin primitive style, just playing with 1 and 2 nighters. Great times, learned alot. Hopefully will have pics and blog posts up soon.

…and I was so hoping you would use seesmic right off the bat, Michael :)
Thanks for that comment, man, you’re on a roll:
heh, fuck copyright indeed, I’ve had viewers ask me about video soundtracks and they bought it right after. Got proof too :)
yes, planning is a priority here (small country, densely populated) and we can appreciate the efficiency of windmills (me, I love the sight of them too)
I would have to ask Wim to repost them on Vimeo, would be sweet, because he’s got a big vault full of good stuff.
IS, yeah, me too, depending on my right arm is nice and all, but I wouldn’t mind somebody coming up with a bike gyro
oh, man, Rendezvous, I think I’ve posted that video 3 times, on 3 different blogs over the course of 3 years, it’s awesome. I love the sound of Ferrari in Paris in the morning, haha (did you know the director was arrested and jailed for a short stint?)
