Just an Amsterdam native who won't take his city and its cycling extravaganza for granted anymore, thinking these posts might be clues to others, inspiration perhaps, if you will...

I got home a few hours ago. The train ride back was excellent as I was fortunate to travel in Comfort 1 class. Free WiFi, power for my laptop, dinner served and unlimited supply of wine. How better to say au revoir to that beautiful city, right?

Anyway, while getting sober, I thought I’d edit up a little nugget from the hours of cycle footage I shot. It’s just one minute long, but let me tell you…no promise you, you ain’t seen nothing yet!

PS, you recall me saying in my short arrival post that I played cards with some Dutch travelers, right? Well, that and my online presence during my trip back didn’t go unnoticed. Gotta love the interwebs.

It’s important and evident to remain calm, confident posture, really turn your head towards upcoming traffic, gesture where you’re going and all is well. That way Parisian car drivers are harmless and very bicycle friendly :-p

thanks, Lynn, you’re right, it helps. I only got dirty looks and a honk from some Gendarmerie in a car once, but I can live with that.

Actually, Nick, it was relatively quiet, as August is the month most French go on vacation.. :)

I remember walking in Paris and wondering what it would be like to cycle. Now I know. Not sure if I am up for it!

Just avoid the places you don’t feel comfortable with, Les! :)
