I own a Strida 4, have always loved it for its purpose: short rides, taking it on train, tram, bus, whatever form of public transportation. Here’s some news on that front, from Jaunted:
Self-Propelled Travel: STRiDA’s Folding Bicycle
“If you’re headed on an extended trip and the destination city has little in the way of public transportation, you may want to pack your own. Next to a skateboard, the MAS Special Signature folding bicycle is probably the smallest, most functional option out there.
This unusual bike was designed in the UK, and is manufactured by STRiDA in Columbus, Ohio. The MAS is their newest–and fastest–model to date, featuring a lightweight, rust-proof aluminum frame that folds down in five seconds flat.
Weighing only 22 pounds, the bike’s triangular shape allows it to collapse quickly but maintain a a high degree of stability. The Kevlar chain makes the Swiss engineered, two-speed drive system run smoothly without the use of grease.
When folded down, the MAS can be rolled along like a tiny stroller or carried in a large duffel bag. At $1,400, this machine isn’t cheap, but it should provide years of on-demand transportation–for those times you don’t have a Velib handy.”
Mine also weighs 22 pounds, cost me 300 Euros, only had 2 flats and the belt replaced (for free) in over 3 years. I’m 1.93 m tall, used to weigh a lot more than I do now (sigh), took it everywhere, anytime (rain or shine), always chuckled when it fit perfectly underneath the cafe’s public telephone booth or the train’s corridor dead spot. And I still can, if needed.
MAS Special Signature, lovely, I’m sure, but I’ll check back with you in 5 years or so, ok? :-p
(This particular Strida was a loaner for the shoot, as mine had a flat)

WHAT TO DO NOW?
