Just an Amsterdam native who won't take his city and its cycling extravaganza for granted anymore, thinking these posts might be clues to others, inspiration perhaps, if you will...

When you are like me, sitting on the couch all day…in other words, The Office, you frequently remind yourself it’s always healthy to find an excuse to go outside. In my particular case, that scenario always involves hopping on my bike.

I figured I could run an errand. Step one is making one up. Step two is preparing for that.

I also figured my phone camera would come in handy, once again. Et voila, another snippet / video slice of my cycle life.

It really was a lovely day for going out for a ride. I took the dog with me:

Every time I watch one of your videos with you on the bike, I completely expect you or the phone to go crashing to the ground!

David, at the risk of jinxing myself, nope, that won’t ever happen :-p

…unless you’re willing to replace it, then I’ll gladly put on a show and create a grand finish/finale *grin*

“It’s like Paris again. But more beautiful than Paris”. As you said it, I thought, “Nah!”, and then you went and showed us the buildings, with those beams for the hoists. Just one of the foibles I love about Amsterdam, but Damn you Marc! I was plotting to whisk Wife away to Paris for a weekend soon. Now it might have to be Amsterdam.

Oh, and one more thing, while I’m chastising you. What’s with the safety gear? I thought you rode in ordinary clothes. But there you are with a hat to keep the sun off your head, and sunglasses to keep the glare from your eyes ;-)

Thanks for another lovely little vid.

Karl, Paris is beautiful, still, but not as much fun, and you damn well know it! :)

Would be honored to hook up with you at some point (without intervening too much on your romantic get-away).

Safety…lol. My measures to look at least a little cool for all the cycle chic on the road, my friend. :-p

    You are so welcome.

In case anyone is interested, a bit of my commute to and from work in Portland, OR - set to Sigur Ros :)

Are you kidding? Of course, Dave! :-p

A great commute, I love the parts where you go underneath the big viaduct (ironic), you glide past the grid lock (buh bye) and cross the bridge(s). So many people also walking it!

Can I repost it here, as a contribution?

@David: thanks! I saw it late last night…I now wish I had a dog again :)

Enjoy your mild weather; it’s gotten quite cold here in Spokane, with snow in the forecast. I’m not sure how much longer cycle commuting will be an option for me, but I intend to continue as long as I can, and still do as many local errands as possible via bike. Even when it’s really cold, a short trip should be no problem!

Excellent! My first Amsterdamize video. There are stacks and stacks of bikes there! I couldn’t believe how many I saw in this video!

    Hey Susan, welcome! :-p

Yeah, you can say that again…just watch the rest of bicycle tv…if you can find the time *grin*

Enjoy the rest of your stay in Budapest!
