Beautiful Fall

Today I took Mr Freight for a spin, running errands. Well, not that many. Coffee and groceries.

Just an Amsterdam native who won't take his city and its cycling extravaganza for granted anymore, thinking these posts might be clues to others, inspiration perhaps, if you will...

Today I took Mr Freight for a spin, running errands. Well, not that many. Coffee and groceries.

It looked gloomy outside, dark clouds, wind, but I figured (as always): it comes and it goes, who cares. So I got on…leaving my umbrella at home. I needed that hand for something more important.

Mr Freight makes even more sense than Spartacus. At first I couldn’t put my finger on it, but now I know it has to do with the sheer / type of comfort of the ride. Regular Dutch bikes, sturdy as these lovely creatures are, are a far cry from mountain bikes with suspension. Why do I bring up this gastly far-removed cousin, you ask? Mr Freight bridges the gap between worrying about potholes and annoying curbs and even glass splinters on the road (as I found out last evening), and the terrain ability equivalent of Land Rovers.

Sure, a little over the top, but close enough to the truth. I was so stunned and smitten by it, I actually smiled when the weather turned supposedly ‘nasty’. Yeah, let’s do the rain test as well. Weeeeee…!

Okay, so this is another reason to plan a trip to Amsterdam (sometime in the next two years): test ride a number of bicycles, to see which is really the best! I dream of so many lovely bikes, but it really comes down to which is the most comfortable and useful for your situation! I’m glad you have found yours, Marc!

Yup, a very valid reason, Wilma :-p, and the proper way of going about choosing a bike.

    Thanks!
