This is the last post about Mr Freight, for now. You’ll just have to forgive me my childish enthusiasm for my new sturdy steed.

Pausing at Nieuwmarkt

Pausing at Nieuwmarkt

First I had to go to Workcycles shop in the east of town to have the rear rack removed and the smaller front rack put in place, then back downtown to the new shop on Lijnbaansgracht to tweak it some more with the new logo stickers and have my Brooks saddle secured.

The guys at both shops were amazed how Mr Freight turned out, especially with the brick red striped tires. All thanks to Henry, who was of course in tune with what would match best. My Workcycles FR8 is now a very, very clean and beautiful bike.

Add a beautiful sunny day to the mix, and you get the photo set ‘Finishing Touches On Mr Freight‘ (toggle to see the slide show full screen):

  • Looks can be deceiving, Julian, I'm sure the FR8 fits you as well.

I'll take a few pictures up close and send the to you, so you can see for yourself.
  • Julian
I love this version of the FR8! Wish I were taller ...

Just curious - you and Henry have both posted photos of a wire-secured Brooks saddle. What are you using, and how is it attached? I've seen kludgier and less attractive versions around, but I like yours.
  • Lol, well, at least I remember reading about it...oh wait, the 'reading' that involves books. 'Books'...like a pile of faxes. Oh wait, 'faxes'...that was like old skool e-mail...etc. :-p

Not as good as Belgium? Uhm, yeah, some are better, but you obviously haven't tasted them all :).

The pleasure was all mine, Michael. Who knows where we'll meet next!

PS, check out this post :)

It IS a very small world. Remember when it used to take 6 months to sail to the west coast of the new world? Well, neither do I but I'm glad it only takes 12 hours. Painful as they are. Enjoyed my time in Amsterdam even if the beer is not as good as Belgium. You have many other charms there to make up for it. It was a pleasure chatting with you at Work Cycles.
  • Hey Michael, so cool of you to drop by here as well! Sing-a-long, It's A Small World..etc :-p

Maybe not the weather, but I know you appreciated other things anyway :)

    Cheers!

I happened by Work Cycles when the finishing touches were being attended to. Nice ride!I have a pic of you proudly holding the saddle... Now back in California where its warmer, thank goodness ;-)
  • Thanks, Lynn! Yeah, that color combo really works. I removed the rear rack because in this case I preferred the beautiful line over the utility factor (and I don't plan to have someone ride on the back with me anymore). The front rack and crate suit my needs perfectly.

    Oh, happy I am! :-p
  • What a gorgeous bike! Olive is my favorite color, so I'm quite jealous. With the red-wall tires, it reminds me of an ivy-covered brick building. I'm curious - why did you remove the rear rack? Wouldn't two racks increase your cargo capacity?
    Happy trails!
