Biking In Portland, Part 4

Dave borrowed a Gorillapod and recorded another Bike To Work video. I really like the music he used (his own!), juxtaposing the many speedy down hill parts of his commute. The cars he trails are only good for showing us his reflection :-p, I spotted a Dutch bike on the bridge and it is ALWAYS [...]

Just an Amsterdam native who won't take his city and its cycling extravaganza for granted anymore, thinking these posts might be clues to others, inspiration perhaps, if you will...

Nice job. And while I do love to speed past in the bike lane while the car lane gridlocked, I also got pretty badly hurt that way, too — beware of cars making left turns from the oncoming lane, across the car and bike lanes. They can’t see you approaching in the bike lane because the stopped cars are in the way. Ouch.

Wowzer, that’s nasty, indeed. Car drivers should take the bike more often to live and learn, Brian ;)

Olesya: you can always just keep clicking “Again” once the video finishes :)

Thankfully, sitting up straight I can actually see over a lot of cars, so I generally feel like I have a good idea of what’s going on, but yeah, it’s good to always keep an eye out. Thankfully it seems that motorists in Portland are generally pretty good about riding with bikes. I’ve actually had more close calls with other cyclists than I have with cars, so far. I’ll keep my fingers crossed on that one.

By the way, if anyone wants to use any of my biking videos for anything, just let me know, I can post the original file online somewhere for download.
