It’s a beautiful Saturday morning, one cycle day Sunday afternoon, already 3 days of Copenhagen in the bag, time to write up some of what happened to yours truly.
Mikael picked me up at Central Station, after a very interesting and eventful train ride through La Nuit L’Europe du Nord. I dropped off all that is luggage at my hotel, only a 35 sec bike ride away. The rain was unrelenting, but no match for me, who cares about rain. The sight of the first strips of blue bike lanes with relatively slow moving objects makes you forget.
Stepping off that blue grid, Mikael introduced me to Niels and Henrik from Baisikeli, a very special bike rental shop. Oh, after you’ve read up on their resourceful enterprise, please vote for them!
After that, hours flew by, roaming the streets and beautiful/impressive sights of Copenhagen.
Of course we talked up a storm on and off the bike, took ‘a few’ pics and shot several videos here and there, and we both silently cursed every person that rode by wearing a bicycle helmet…yes. Worthy of a seperate post.
Last night the peeps of Copenhagen celebrated ‘J-dag’, a sort of a binge drink celebration, sponsored by Carlsberg. It showed :). I was a little pooped, so I was more of a social observer than anything else. Good enough, just like Amsterdam, Copenhagen offers much more than just instant access to the hops floodgates.
Saturday was a beautiful sunny day, so I clicked and clicked until the batteries on both my cameras went dead. Had a nice dinner with Mikael’s family, during which we brewed on some cyclelicious ideas. Oh, and so far nobody drank anybody under the table…yet. Sorry to burst your bubble :).
I’ll leave you with pictures of the first two three full days, getting to and around CPH. Monday looks very promising ;-).
