On my way back from Copenhagen to Amsterdam I received an e-mail from a friend in Ireland, saying ‘I saw this and thought of you’. Who knew he’d see me as an old skool pioneer…:)
Thanks, Hugh! Now I have to keep my eyes open for something appropriate for you…

Just an Amsterdam native who won't take his city and its cycling extravaganza for granted anymore, thinking these posts might be clues to others, inspiration perhaps, if you will...

Hi .Very interesting, I was looking at an article on bakfiets -en-meer the Work Cycles Blog about the Interbike Show from Friedrickshaven and it featured a Modern version of this mainly for Exercising. It had two Platforms that you stand on and Press down on each in turn to provide Traction with no Saddle to sit on. It was the Size of a Bike. So this Chap was already ahead of his time 80-90Years ago in this Picture.
Good that you point that out, John, I forgot about that post.
Indeed he was, although I agree with Henry, this concept has leaped into Nutty Town :)

See Marc, you just gotta find me a pair of these and I’ll fly to Amsterdam to bike with you after all!
That or we could have fun training Vondel Park squirrels to ride them and make money on the streets.
Wait… do you guys even have squirrels there? I actually don’t think you do… those little buggers are North-American-centric aren’t they. I know Portugal doesn’t have squirrels in any case.
Nuno, so that is what it takes to get you rolling? Why am I not surprised…lol. Your fondness of squirrels and the prospect of riding them worries me. Good thing there are not many of them here. Yes, we have them, they’re just too scared of nutters like you harassing / mutilating them. :-p

Awesome pic! A very cool idea, but I wonder how safe they would be? Even if it would not be safe, it is still cool looking :)

These look like a later and improved version of the “Ritter Skate” which were advertised in London in the late 1890s. I might be able to find an advertisement…

The parakeets were actually released by an old lady who lived nearby and they never left the park since. Still, they are an intoxicating sight :)

No point in arguing here, he’s got bicycles on his feet… Yeah, any time I enter a discussion I’ll just wear those things and be the automatic winner! :D
