Last October I ventured outside with a video camera on a cold, windy and rainy Saturday afternoon. I tried several times, but I never really started editing…until this week. And right after hearing this news today, I was determined to have it done by this evening.

I already confessed my love for cycling in this great, beautiful and forgiving city with ‘Sinfonia Cyclissimo‘ well over a year ago, but here’s its successor, a new ode, if you will: ‘Free’.

I realize you meant to post this comment on the Bicycle Mania bit ;). Thank you so much, John, it really is work in progress as I find out stuff along the way, angles, things to focus on, themes, etc. At some point my the batches should become smaller and more focused. Well, I'm not in a hurry :). Who's the other Wisconsin cheesehead riding a SS? :)

Oops. Sorry about the misplaced comment. Can I like the video too? Especially fun with Mika's "Love Today." Oops again! Wrong video. Regarding Cheeseheads, isn't Lauren going to be riding the new SS? She is part of the Wisconsin diaspora, no?

You would think my favorite would be the "three kid / chic mom on a cargo bike" as that is my genre. You would be wrong, though. My favorite is "army green, hoarder guy with all the stuff"! : )

Charming! I loved the scene around 1:40 where the cyclist and passenger recognize they're being filmed. A big laugh and the "peace sign" result...

Thanks for that, Kristin, you are so right ;). One hour and 10 minutes of footage to choose from and having to deal with what darlings to kill...arghhh! ;)

Now I'm eager to see a sample of your work!

What can I say... as always, a brilliant video, making me dream of a place where I'm not always trying to get out of the way of automobiles (I've been dreaming a lot lately, since Portland is voting on whether or not to approve a $600 million, 20 year bicycle plan today).

It just never ceases to strike me how elegant and dignified a means of travel the bicycle is. Something made by humans to complement and enhance their own strength, not to replace it.

Brilliant.

Hey Marc,

Einstein knew what he was talking about on many levels, I guess :)

Looks like the vote was delayed a week in order to try to incorporate some amendments and such, but it looks very positive, as the city commissioners (who are the ones voting to accept or reject the plan) were trying to find funding solutions and add them as amendments during the hearing on the plan yesterday, which included public comment and testimony and such :) I think the plan will be accepted, the bigger question now is how they will find the funding for it.
