I admire that guy with the surfboard. It's not as easy as it looks. I once cycled with a roll of carpet under my arm (one end under my arm and the other resting on the steeringwheel) and was SO glad when I got home.

hi Norms, you're right, it's not that easy, but practice makes perfect, right ;). I did the roll of carpet thing too one time, little adjusting here and there, but all good…was just knackered from the sheer weight :).

BikeSnobNYC, lol, yes, I do, one can't keep away from his blog, good writing and fun stuff. Too bad he had to give up his anonymity for the book. I've poked on there a few times, it was like throwing a stick in a hen house, since then..well, basically since the NYT fashion article about Dutch bikes in NYC (I contributed a few photos to that feature) he got fixed (pun) on ridiculing Dutch & Danish bike culture. Great! :)

in virginia beach, virginia, usa, one can see multiple 12 year olds heading for the beach on little 'trick' bikes carrying their boards, wet suits pulled to the waist and the tops hanging. They are as nimble on the bikes as they are on their boards.
