The photo of the girl with the red handbag and blue scarf is just beautiful – it pops! Great shot, well done. I don't know what it is about these pictures but as an ensemble the whole post says 'public holiday' to me; no one is rushing, everyone is taking it easy, smiling, just pootling around. I wish every day was like this!

Oh, and for tourist hire bikes those tandem cruisers are pretty cool looking!

I love the fact that socializing can happen while riding your bicycle in Amsterdam. Its almost impossible to have a side by side riding conversation here in Toronto without smacking into something or having to stop, the infrastructure and bike lanes here in Toronto do not support it. Normal social behaviours that would be second nature while walking with your friends does not translate well from walking to cycling here in Toronto. A solitary cyclist gathers no moss…

Talk about being social on a bike, markenlei posted this video of cyclists in a roundabout on YouTube. You'll see several groups of people riding in a pack or abreast chit chatting. Lovely.
