I know that Vondelpark had a tradition of dogs being allowed off-leash all year round, but that that rule has changed recently, though it is being contested. As I understand it, dogs cannot go off-leash on paths, which is perhaps reasonable due to all the bike traffic, but how many problems or conflicts are there between dogs and cyclists?

I ride a bike and have dogs, and we get hit nearly once per day by cyclists.

Your so good at capturing people and conveying their attitudes or emotions through your photos. Scrolling down, each picture was more brilliant than the one before. Thank you so much for sharing this Amsterdam beauty with us!

been living in Amsterdam for 20 years now, never hit a dog (and there are MANY dogs in this town). Sure, sometimes you have to go around them when they do the unpredictable thing they do, but in that sense, I have to be more aware of tourists ;)

I think the laid back cycling attitude allows more. People on bikes expect traffic from all sides, including dogs.

Thanks so much, Dottie. Over the past year I aimed at that, trying to capture everything from glances, interactions to other on-bike behavior that will tell 'the tale'. Humanity in motion, being on a bike enhances that, me thinks :).

thanks, every time I see this pic I can't help but remember shoving my can of beer in a friend's hands (“Quick, hold this”), having trouble opening up my camera bag, fumbling with the on-switch and falling sideways to get this framing. No, really. ;)
