At the end of a Monday afternoon I headed north, following the western side of the infamous Zuiderzeeroute, riding on top of the dike along the IJssel Lake. I was aiming to dismount at one of my favourite spots, the biggest bend on the Uitdammer Dike, separating IJssel Lake from the Kinsel Lake (which water level is several meters below that of IJssel Lake). That particular location is just a 30-40 min easy ride away from downtown Amsterdam.
You just hop on the ferry to IJplein in Amsterdam Noord and the route will take you along pretty villages and beautiful waterfronts.
Yes, a highly recommended way to unwind, worthy of a little film.
