If you follow me on Twitter, you might know about Julie Hrudova. I got to know about Julie through Paddy Cahill's video project 'Riding With', intrigued as I was by the fact that Julie is a photographer. You know me, I'm a sucker for bikes and pictures.

Turns out, Julie has a premiere today and I thought it would be good to share this informatiion with the rest of the world (that part that happens to reside in/be in the vicinity of Amsterdam, that is):

On September 5 [yes, today] the Central Library in Amsterdam will open the first solo exhibition by photographer Julie Hrudova (Prague, 1988).

Amsterdam Street Diary

The exhibition shows a broad overview of Julie’s ongoing project ‘Amsterdam Street Diary’: a visual diary in which she captures the city in a unique way. Over the last five years Julie has been wandering around the streets with her camera, always on the lookout for incongruities. Her photographs reveal stories that we wouldn’t notice with the naked eye. Minor irregularities in her surroundings catch her attention: a running dog, a man blowing soap bubbles in the street or a girl in the water - Julie transforms them into surrealistic spectacles.

The library will be organising a corresponding exhibition on the fourth floor including photo books, photographs and information about earlier photo chronicles of the city. ‘Amsterdam Street Diary’ is curated by Ester Bullens (Eindhoven, 1984) and sponsored by the Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst and the Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam.

I'll be attending, hope you are too ;).
